The wine contest in the Transcarpathia brought together specialists and expertsfrom all over the country to grade modern wines from this region. The event took place on July 10, 2023. It aimed to acquaint Transcarpathian wine experts with region's wines and local winemakers with international wine standards.
There was 150 samples served on the contest. Experts were using "Gustoslif" blind system to grade participants. This system provided high level of objectivity and prevented errors and falsifications.
Jury members were pleasantly surprised by the level of modern Transcarpathian wines, but some winemakers who submitted their wines for professional evaluation for the first time had to face challenges.
At the end of the competition, as the best wineries in Transcarpathia were recognized the Karl Shosh winery from Berehove and the "Terroir" from Mukachevo. Winemakers such as Vasyl Nagy from the "Nota Bene" winery, Istvan Beretskyi, Andriy Fechora, Vitaliy Muska, as well as the wines of Ruslan Oros stood out among the favorites of the competition.
Hleb Koshelev, a member of the jury and head sommelier of the Vitis Group company and head of the Artania bar, emphasized the importance of the competition for the development of the wine industry in the region. He hopes that over time Transcarpathia will be represented by more producers on the wine map of Ukraine.
The organizers sincerely congratulate all the participants of the competition and hope that with the help of this event, the quality and recognition of Transcarpathian wines will continue to grow. Ukrainian winemaking, even in difficult conditions, continues to develop, and this is proof of its powerful potential for the future.
