Product description
"Kara Kermen" by Beykush Winery is a red dry vintage wine, a blend of Saperavi and Tempranillo. The wine is created using the appassimento method, aged for over 24 months in American oak barrels.
The grapes for "Kara Kermen" are hung in a special ventilated room for a certain period of time, cut from the vine. Over the course of a few weeks, the grapes lose moisture, but the sugar content (and consequently, alcohol), aromatic, coloring and phenolic substances increase proportionally. After crushing, the grapes are fermented in open vertical oak barrels.
The aroma of the wine is revealed by notes of figs in chocolate, cherries with rum, truffle, noble anise and a little smoked smoke. Thanks to the dried berries of appassimento, a pleasant tartness, sweetness and rich color appear.
The wine got its name from the name of the ancient structure Kara Kermen, which means black fortress, which stood on the territory of the modern city of Ochakiv, not far from the Beykush winery.
